Club History
Your Atlanta Club's History
| The Atlanta Association, as it was first know as in 1919, served as a model for expansion. The Association was first with the notion of initiation of colony members at neighboring chapters, supplying them with housing and then submitting a chartering petition. These were the grounds on which the Omega Chapter at Georgia Tech was founded. Without this model not one chapter would have gained admittance to the Fraternity during the war period. | |
| The Atlanta Association was part of a post World War II boom regarding the involvement of Clubs in the Fraternity. Chartered in 1947, the Chi Phi Club of Atlanta came onto the scene with a purpose in mind. That purpose was to clearly develop and foster growth at all Atlanta area Chi Phi Chapters. | |
| As a result of the Club, Chi Phi has managed to grow and support the Fraternity’s numerous Atlanta area chapters over the years. Today, Chi Phi has three Chapters within the metro area at Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Oglethorpe University, as well as four others in Georgia – the University of Georgia, the University of West Georgia, Georgia Southwestern State University, and Shorter College. An eigth area Chapter, currently dormant, the Chi Delta Chapter at Georgia State was also a product of Club support and efforts are currently underway to revive it. Indeed, a strong metropolitan Chi Phi Club goes a long way to building and supporting a strong Chi Phi. | |
| Today the Chi Phi Club of Atlanta tradition continues and its values and mission are still the same: | |
| - | Provide Chi Phi Brothers with the opportunity for business networking and to spend time together in a social setting. |
| - | Assist local Chapters & Colonies and their individual members in coordination with their alumni associations and housing corporations. |
| - | Encourage members to support the Chi Phi Fraternity and Chi Phi Educational Trust. |
| The Club hosts a luncheon with guest speakers the third Thursday of each month, except December, at The Buckhead Club. After hours socials and an annual undergraduate Career Workshop are included in the calendar of events. Click here for a calendar of events. | |
